Registry Wedding

The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) offers private weddings at an affordable cost; in a decorated room at all NIRA locations and with an outdoor garden (available for photos only) at our Head Office. All ceremonies are performed by a Civil Registrar or Marriage Officer. NIRA is ideally suited for wedding ceremonies as the Agency trains and supervises Marriage Officers and also issues certificates of Marriage Registers.

Ceremonies are held Mondays to Saturdays between the hours of 9:00 am to 2:00 pm except for public holidays that may fall on these days. All required documents must be submitted in order to book your wedding date and time. Couples using the service must bring along their witnesses, who must be 18 years or older, and brides may choose to wear traditional white wedding gowns, complete with veil and bouquet.

Requirments

What's Needed

  • Certified copies of bride and groom’s birth certificates;
  • Valid identification for bride and groom or certified copy of valid identification (National ID, Passport, Driver’s License, etc.);
  • Occupation of bride and groom;
  •  If either party was previously married, marriage certificate for previous marriage, certified final divorce papers or death certificate of deceased spouse;
  • The relevant fees;
  • Secure Minister’s License from the Ministry of Justice (For convenience customers may purchase the pre-stamped page 2 Minister’s License from any of NIRA’s Regional Offices with the exception of Portmore, Kingston May Pen and Montego Bay at a cost of J$5000). Same may be purchased at the Head Office (if available). You may contact us to enquire if option is available. Couples have the option of getting the Minister’s (Marriage) License on their own at the Ministry of Justice.
  • Bride and groom must be residing in Jamaica for a minimum of 24 hours before ceremony.
  • A beautiful wedding ceremony in a decorated room at any of our 10 offices and with an outdoor garden (available for photos only) at our Head Office;
  • A marriage certificate within 3 – 4 business days of the Registry Wedding Ceremony;
  • A hassle free affordable wedding;
