The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) was established to oversee and manage civil registration and national identification in Jamaica. The Registrar General's Department is now the Office of the Registrar-General within the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) and will continue to manage all the civil registry records such as Birth, Marriage, Death, Adoption etc. NIRA will also manage the National Identification Card (NIC).
